" EOS was the rosy-fingered goddess of the dawn. She and her siblings Helios (the Sun) and Selene (the Moon) were numbered amongst the second-generation Titan gods. Eos rose up into the sky from the river Okeanos at the start of each day, and with her rays of light dispersed the mists of night. She was sometimes depicted riding in a golden chariot drawn by winged horses, at other times she was shown borne aloft by her own pair of wings. Eos had an unquenchable desire for handsome young men, some say as the result of a curse laid upon her by the goddess Aphrodite..."

Aphrodite, Bathing - an original digital image, Tasha, bathing, near on the Weeki Wachee River, Gulf Coast, Florida.  This is an original multimedia acrylic/oil art wjork, based on an original acrylic sketch, Tasha, standing. Aphrodite was associated with Cupid; the cupids here come from a couple of classical paintings, for which I've misplaced my notes. (I don't feel like looking to find them again.) "Because of her beauty, other gods feared that their rivalry over her would interrupt the peace among them and lead to war, so Zeus married her to Hephaestus, who, because of his ugliness and deformity, was not seen as a threat. Aphrodite had many lovers—both gods, such as Ares, and men, such as Anchises." (from Wikipedia...) ...The tree branch in the "Baths of Aphrodite" photo makes it hard to use for an art piece, so I preferred to use Weeki Wachee River..  I also do not try to reproduce classical styles, preferring my more "traditional-modern" forms, and using contemporary models and poses.

A world-famous Aphrodite is the "Venus de Milo", in the Louvre, Paris. "This graceful statue of a goddess has intrigued and fascinated since its discovery on the island of Melos in 1820. Is it Aphrodite, who was often portrayed half-naked, or the sea goddess Amphitrite, who was venerated on Milo? ... Whether the statue is Greek or Roman draws various opinions.  One summing-up, also from the Louvre site above, is "... The Venus de Milo certainly revives the classical tradition, but would appear to be a classicizing re-creation dating from the late 2nd century BC. The goddess's air of aloofness, the harmony of her face and her impassivity are stamped with the aesthetics of the 5th century BC; the hairstyle and delicate modeling of the flesh evoke the works of 4th-century sculptor Praxiteles. However, the sculpture reflects innovations that appeared during the Hellenistic period, between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC. Baths of Aphrodite near Latchi, Cyprus "Mythology" sometimes claims this as the spring within which Aphrodilte sometimes bathes...

Inanna 7th Gate... Female Nude Digital Fine Art Jean Inanna 7th Gate.    (click title above for print-on-demand...) Jean, as Inanna, ... traditional-modern acrylic/oil and original digital image ... an original digital fine art painting. Jean, as Inanna, in her decent to the underworld, in a traditional-modern style. It is based on my own original earlier studies, jean, paintings and drawings. "Why does Inanna go down into Hell? Neither the Sumerian nor the Akkadian versions of Inanna’s Descent to the Underworld tells us why she goes there."  (http://ancientworlds.net/... Inanna/Ishtar's Descent into the Underworld) The gateway came from an image Ancient World History ; I took the gateway part, modified it quite a bit, and added an abstract color overlay.  The abstract overlay was generated using GIMP Qbist. Goddesses - 2 multimedia fine art paintings...

Goddesses are always a favorite art motif; to test the obvious, just search online for "goddess". I've done 6 or 8 or so in the last couple of years, many of them being built up from my own prior sketches / paintings, put into a classic "goddess" motif.  Here are 2  of my "earlier" art pieces... Aphrodite... Aphrodite traditional-modern acrylic/oil and original digital image ... an original multimedia fine art painting. This picture is an original piece of computer-developed digital art, based on my earlier original acrylic/oil sketch on paper, a female nude standing. For the digital image I have used a motif by Bouguereau. "Aphrodite was the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She is identified with the planet Venus, which is named after the Roman goddess Venus, with whom Aphrodite was extensively syncretized. Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtle, roses, doves, sparrows, and swans. ... The cult of Aphrodite was largely derived from that of the Phoenician goddess Astarte, a cognate of the East Semitic goddess Ishtar, whose cult was based on the Sumerian cult of Inanna. Aphrodite's main cult centers were Cythera, Cyprus, Corinth, and Athens. In Laconia, she was worshipped as a warrior goddess." Here is my earlier original acrylic/oil sketch of the model, and the classic version by Bouguereau. Tasha, Standing - sketch, oil on paper. Below, The Birth of Venus by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Bouguereau employed traditional methods of working up a painting, including detailed pencil studies and oil sketches, and his careful method resulted in a pleasing and accurate rendering of the human form. His painting of skin, hands, and feet was particularly admired.[19] He also used some of the religious and erotic symbolism of the Old Masters, such as the "broken pitcher" which connoted lost innocence.[20]   The Birth of Venus by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, c. 1879

In recent years, many of my paintings are based on "sketches" which I develop on my computer.  I use an opensource image software, GIMP, which I find to produce good results.
